Borders Crime Wave

As if to prove a point mentioned in the Paper Shop yesterday about crime levels - the BBC News website reports a warning from LBP:

Police have issued a warning for Borderers to be on their guard following two purse thefts in the area.

  • We once had a crime wave in Hutton when a bike was nicked. But justice triumphed. The thief was caught wheeling the bike up hill-he had stolen one without gears. Sad

  • Reminds me of a story related to me by a solicitor friend - some miscreant had stolen about a hundredweight of scrap iron and was caught redhanded by a pursuing copper.... the first question the copper asked apparently was "why didn't you just drop it and run?" "Christ! I never thought of that" came the reply.
