Out of the blue....
The Paper Boy's interest was piqued recently by a story of Sainsbury's coming to Kelso. Apparently they've tried before (lodging a planning application in 1998), and have a new application in lodged in July 2006.
It falls outwith the local plan as drawn up by SBC as it is not in the cobbled town centre, but seems to have the support of virtually everyone since it involves the tidying up of two prominent units on Kelso's Pinnaclehill industrial estate and will bring one of the top 4 supermarkets to town. It's annoyed Tesco since they had plans for a store elsewhere in Kelso and they were rejected - although they've taken it upon themselves to object to the Sainsbury's application anyway.

And apropos of nothing, il me semble que mon accompte "Blogger" est en francais!! No idea what's happening there.... Les boffins de Google please fix it :)

Good to have you back. Long time between posts- a bit like Royal Mail .
The SBC planning site is slow but a great boon in helping to keep a tab on some of the more erratic forms of development-mind you there is litle that Jock Citizen can do about it

I like the idea of Sainsbury's in Kelso. It will save driving to Straiton!!

all part of the retail games. Meanwhile Lidl seems to have one of their top ten stores here.
